Porcelain plate by Hutschenreuther with burned-in image
A very special plate. This plate was produced by the world-famous Hutschenreuther porcelain manufacturer on behalf of the then equally famous German computer company Nixdorf.
The occasion was Easter 1986. For this purpose, a porcelain plate with a dedication on the back was to be printed for the employees of the Nixdorf company. The artist Barbara Fürstenhöfer was chosen for the picture on the front of the plate. In the 1980s, she had produced a four-part series of pictures called "Four Seasons". The season "Spring" was chosen from this series and burned into the Hutschenreuther porcelain plate.
The special thing about this plate is the combination of unfortunate circumstances at this Easter. Finally, in time for Easter, they managed to get a famous producer to produce the plate and an artist who had just finished the "Four Seasons" when, just a few days before Easter, the bad news about the company's founder, Heinz Nixdorf, arrived. He had died of a heart attack at the world's largest computer trade fair, CeBiT.
Knowing the tragic circumstances under which this porcelain plate saw the light of day, it is certainly a sought-after collector's item for all those who collect special porcelain tableware or memorabilia from the no longer existing computer company Nixdorf.
