The name was borrowed from the Counts of Henneberg, to whose county Ilmenau had belonged in the Middle Ages. Christian Zacharias Gräbner obtained the concession to establish a porcelain manufactory in Ilmenau on July 8, 1777 from Duke Carl August of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. By 1980 more than 3,000 people worked in the \"VEB Neue Porzellanfabrik Ilmenau.\" After reunification the plant was privatized, and in 2002 the venerable factory had to stop production forever.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eDating\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vase was made between 1949 and 1973.
