Antique Kitchen Spice Jar Set: Coffee Canister & Two "Paprika" & "Pepper" Pots with Alpine Scene – Austria pre-1950

An exceptionally beautiful and rarely found set of antique kitchen jars from Austria.

Includes

• A large coffee canister with lid
• Two matching small pots for "Paprika" and "Pfeffer" (pepper)

Design

Decorated with an alpine landscape and violet garlands, plus a delicate relief pattern lightly touched with gold. On the base of the canister, the name "Gretl".

Details & Condition

• Material: faience / porcelain
• Coffee canister: height with lid 21 cm / 8.3 in, base 11.5 x 9.5 cm
• Spice pots: height 7.5 cm / 3 in, base 4.5 x 6 cm
• Origin: Austria
• Date: before 1950
• Condition: no cracks or repairs; one chip on the lid and one on an edge of the large canister. The small pots have no lids – cork lids are easy to add.

Uses

As nostalgic decor in a farmhouse kitchen or on a kitchen shelf – a special piece of Austrian everyday history.

Care

Clean gently by hand.

At the flea market in St. Pölten the three jars stood among old coffee grinders – and "Gretl" on the base still seemed to know where the paprika belonged.
