Cherub Wall Plaque Made of Wood, Baroque Style – Decorative Winged Putto

A carved Baroque-style angel head, with wings and a brown stained finish – found at the indoor flea market in St. Pölten.
Material & Manufacturing
The piece is made of wood. Several features suggest that it is a machine-copied carving rather than a continuous hand-carving: regular, parallel tool marks on the face and back, very symmetrical wing feathers, and a small stamped number ("37/2") on the back, which is more likely to be a workshop pattern number than a year. We are transparent about this and have priced it accordingly.
Condition
Good vintage condition, no cracks or breaks visible. The small brass ring for wall mounting on the back was apparently added later – it appears significantly newer and shinier than the surrounding wood. Price is for 1 piece.
Dimensions
- Width (wing to wing): 19 cm
- Height: 10 cm
- Depth: 6 cm
Style & Use
The Baroque-style motif of the angel's head with wings was a popular wall decor element from the early to mid-20th century, often from Alpine carving workshops. A precise dating is not possible, so we specify the period as approx. 1920s–1960s. Suitable for Grandmillennial, Cottagecore, or eclectic-European wall design.

St. Pölten, the same quiet stall at the indoor flea market.
This small angel head is probably not a unique piece from a master's hand, but one of many identical heads that a workshop once mass-produced.
A face among many, yet with a story.
