There are watering cans that carry, and there are watering cans that aim. This one belongs to the latter category: a slender brass tube, almost as long as the body is wide, designed for water to reach between closely packed leaves without having to move a pot.
The body is hammered from brass sheet and features a wide hammered band, framed by two rolled beads. The domed lid is firmly soldered, with only a teardrop-shaped opening remaining for filling. The flat handle swings freely over the lid and rests in a small retaining tab.

Condition
Used, but well preserved. The brass is not polished, but shows a warm, developed patina. On the bottom there are dark tarnished areas, individual small verdigris deposits, and the solder lines from manufacturing. Bright abrasion marks are visible next to the filling opening. No holes, no significant dents, the spout is straight and clear. We recommend a short water test before watering.
In the Room
On the kitchen windowsill next to herbs, on the shelf between books and greenery, as a vessel for dried flowers. Brass darkens and warms with age – the piece will continue to change, even with you.

Found at the annual flea market in Heidenreichstein in the northern Waldviertel region. Unique item, the price is for 1 piece. Shipping from Austria, carefully packaged.
Late afternoon, half the tables already dismantled. This watering can was still there, its spout extended towards passers-by, waiting for someone to stop. Decades of water have left their mark on its bottom. Things are more patient than we are.
