Vintage Austrian Glass Candy Jar with Lid – Floral Lid Motif, 1960s

A typical glass jar from the 1960s. As children, we always had a jar like this standing on the living-room cabinet, filled with treats. Every time we walked past, we lifted the lid and took a piece.

Shape and Decoration

The lid has a large glass handle even children can’t miss, decorated with floral motifs. Geometric patterns are cut into the jar itself, which stands on three small glass feet. It may be crystal glass, though this can’t be confirmed with certainty. The sound when tapped is pure and clear, and the jar itself is pleasantly heavy.
