About the Brewery

The name comes from the brewery's home in the small Upper Austrian village of Zipf, where Friedrich Hofmann began brewing his own beer in 1842 in a small brewery with an attached inn. The brewery later became part of Österreichische Brau AG and ultimately Brau Union Österreich.
