Picture on Wood: Shipwreck on an Italian Beach, Baroque Gold Frame – Vintage 1970s, Maritime Wall Decor

A very decorative, expressive genre picture: after a storm, ships lie stranded and locals are busy salvaging the cargo. The scene presumably takes place in Italy at the end of the 18th century.

Execution

The painting is printed on a wooden panel and set in a baroque, gold-colored frame. Together with its "twin picture" – a fishing scene on the Mediterranean – it makes an effective arrangement.

At the Megaflohmarkt in Vienna the picture leaned against an old chest of drawers – its golden frame glowing like a window onto the sea.
