Hutschenreuther Porcelain Plate for Nixdorf – Easter 1986, Spring Motif by Barbara Fürstenhöfer

A very special plate: produced by the world-famous porcelain manufacturer Hutschenreuther on behalf of the then equally well-known German computer company Nixdorf, for Easter 1986.

The Story Behind It

A porcelain plate with a dedication on the back was to be printed for Nixdorf employees. The artist Barbara Fürstenhöfer was chosen for the front motif; in the 1980s she had published a four-part series called “Four Seasons.” The season “Spring” was selected and burned into the Hutschenreuther porcelain.

What makes this plate special is the chain of unfortunate circumstances that Easter: just days after securing a famous maker and an artist who had only recently finished “Four Seasons,” tragic news arrived – company founder Heinz Nixdorf had died of a heart attack at the world’s largest computer trade fair, CeBIT.
