Silver-Plated Teapot with Grapevine Relief – Antique, Before 1920

A very old silver-plated metal teapot, richly decorated with grapevine and grape-cluster motifs. On the lid sits a bunch of grapes still hanging on its vine; vine leaves decorate many parts of the pot, and even the base is shaped from grape leaves. The handle and spout carry the same vine motif.

Craftsmanship

The lid is attached with a hinge and can be opened. The pot is made of very thick-walled metal and correspondingly heavy – a piece bound to draw every visitor's eye. It can still be used for brewing tea, though it should be thoroughly cleaned first.

Condition
