A sleeping putto from Florence — gilded, fully sculptured, with relief-outstretched wings. A piece of Italian decorative art that found its way to Lower Austria and is now traveling on.
Details
The cherub shows closed eyes and softly sculpted curls; the wings are adorned with individually elaborated feather reliefs. The warm antique gold surface emphasizes the depth of each sculptured detail. Back with red felt lining and metal eyelet for hanging. Material: solid synthetic mass (resin/composite). Embossed mark: "FIRENZE ITALY".
Slight age-related wear on the gold surface; small green paint traces on the wing edges (visible in photos); a fine casting seam in the hair detail — production-related, where two mold halves were joined, not damage. Not visible from normal hanging distance.

Schloss Rosenau, one of those quiet places in the Waldviertel where things arrive slowly and leave even slower. This little angel lay between old frames and a lacquered box — quiet, golden, a little dusty. He had once been in Florence and had waited. Perhaps above a doorframe, as the Italians do.
