Details
The rim of each coaster is adorned with a continuous relief of blossoms and flowing leaves; the slightly recessed inner surface features a delicate engraved decoration of floral and abstract swirling lines. The silver plating still has a beautiful sheen overall. The undersides show age-related signs of use and light scratches — signs of a piece that was actually in use.

Metal, silver-plated. Likely produced in the 1960s–1980s. The uniform embossing and the degree of silver plating suggest industrial manufacturing from these decades.

Waidhofen an der Thaya, once a year, when the old market square fills with people who still have time to look slowly. This set lay in a wooden box among linen tablecloths — wrapped in newspaper, as if someone always intended to unwrap it again. Six coasters for six guests who never came. Or came very often.
