Erzgebirge Wooden Candle Arch (Schwibbogen), Church with Carol Singers, 4 Candles, 30 cm – Vintage 1960s Christmas Decor

An atmospheric candle arch (Schwibbogen) from the Ore Mountains (Saxony) in natural wood – with a church before which five singers and musicians strike up Christmas carols. Four candle holders accompany you through the Sundays of Advent.

Provenance

The arch comes from our own family: around 1961 an aunt brought it from the GDR as a gift when she came to visit. During her stay the Berlin Wall was built – she remained with us for a year or two with her daughter, and the Schwibbogen became part of our family. For many winters it stood on the tiled stove and was as much a part of Advent as the scent of Christmas cookies.
