Japanese Relief Painting Sunrise over a Lagoon, Handcrafted – Vintage 1990s, Mystical Wall Decor

A rare find: a handcrafted Japanese textured painting of a lagoon landscape, made in the style of relief painting.

Technique

Sculptural structures of natural materials and modeling clay are applied to the base. Once dry, they are painted – so parts of the image physically protrude, creating a three-dimensional effect.

Atmosphere

The pastel-like colors envelop the viewer in a mystical mood. Day or night remains open: the celestial body on the horizon could be the sun or the full moon.
