The Story of the Pattern
The design was inspired by the Thousand-Year Rose at Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany – said to be the oldest living rose bush in the world, which even survived the cathedral’s destruction in 1945 and grew back from its roots. The flatware pattern with a rosebud at the end of the handle became a classic of German table culture and is still sought after by collectors.
