Wagner “Tannhäuser” 4-LP Box Set, Melodiya Stereo, Bayreuth 1962 under Sawallisch – Vintage Vinyl from the USSR

A complete 4-LP box set of Richard Wagner's opera “Tannhäuser” on the Soviet label Melodiya (stereo, 33СМ 03411–18) – the 1962 Bayreuth Festival recording under Wolfgang Sawallisch, one of the most esteemed Tannhäuser recordings.

Special Features

The original hard box bears handwritten German title notes – a lovely trace of its journey through time. Complete multi-disc opera boxes of this edition have become scarce, as many sets were split up over the years.

At the flea market in St. Pölten the heavy box stood among pop records – and when the lid was opened, it was as if the Pilgrims' Chorus were about to begin.
